NookScan

Terms of Use

Draft for legal review · Version 2026-10-07.1

These terms are an agreement between you and Ado Prudent Ltd ("we", "us"), which provides NookScan through its SEP Africa programme. NookScan is published on Google Play under the developer name NookScan. By ticking "I agree" and using NookScan, you accept these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

1. What NookScan does

NookScan helps you look for possible hidden cameras and transmitting devices using your phone's own Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, camera and magnetometer, and guides you through a physical search.

2. What NookScan cannot do

3. Using NookScan lawfully

You agree to:

NookScan never logs in to devices or opens their video, and you agree not to try to use it to do so.

4. If you find something

If you find a device, don't touch it. Photograph it where it is, contact the host, landlord or booking platform, and report it to local police. In an emergency, contact local emergency services first. Decisions you make based on NookScan's results are your own.

5. We are not part of any dispute about a hidden device

NookScan is a search aid. We make the app; we have nothing to do with any room you check or any device in it. In particular:

6. Your responsibility to us

You agree to indemnify us, meaning to cover our reasonable losses and legal costs, if a claim is brought against us by someone else because you broke section 3, tampered with or damaged a device or property, made an accusation against someone based on NookScan's results, or otherwise misused the app. This doesn't apply where the claim results from our own breach of these terms or our negligence.

7. Free plan and NookScan Pro

8. Privacy

NookScan has no accounts. Scan results, room notes and photos stay on your phone, and we don't collect them. Payments are handled by Google Play; we never see your payment details. The Privacy Policy explains this in full and forms part of these terms.

9. Your licence to use the app

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use NookScan on devices you own or control, for your own lawful use. You may not resell the app, remove its notices or use it to build a competing product. NookScan, its name and its logo belong to us.

10. No warranty

NookScan is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be error-free, uninterrupted or able to detect any particular device.

11. Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or harm arising from a device NookScan did not detect, a device it flagged that turned out to be legitimate, any device placed or operated by someone else, any recording made by such a device, or actions you take based on NookScan's results. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for NookScan in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.

12. Ending use

You can stop using NookScan at any time by uninstalling it; remember to cancel any subscription in Google Play. We may suspend or end your licence if you break these terms, in particular section 3.

13. Changes to these terms, and transfer

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, the app will ask you to review and accept the new version before you continue.

We may transfer NookScan, and our rights and obligations under these terms, to a company in our group or to a successor, for example a new holding company, or move NookScan to a different Google Play developer account. If we do, we will tell you in the app, and the transfer will not reduce your rights under these terms. Your Pro purchase moves with the app.

14. Governing law and arbitration

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms or NookScan, including any question about their existence, validity or termination, will be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration seated in Lagos, Nigeria, under the Arbitration and Mediation Act 2023, before a sole arbitrator, in English.

This does not stop either side from asking a court for urgent interim relief, and it does not remove any right you have under the consumer laws of the country you live in to bring a claim in your local courts.
