Check your room for hidden cameras
NookScan is an Android app that helps you look for hidden cameras and transmitting devices in hotels, rentals and short-term lets, using your phone's own Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and camera, then guides you through a physical search.
Coming soon to Google Play
What it checks
- Devices on the Wi-Fi network you're connected to, including open video-stream ports (Pro)
- Nearby Wi-Fi hotspots with names many mini cameras use (Pro)
- Nearby Bluetooth devices, with a live signal bar to walk towards one (signal bar with Pro)
- Camera lens reflections and infrared lights, with a guided sweep of each wall
- A checklist of the usual hiding places: smoke detectors, clocks, chargers, vents, mirrors
What it can't do
NookScan cannot detect devices that don't transmit, such as SD-card cameras or offline recorders, so a physical search is always needed. It reports possible devices and never tells you a room has none. A flagged device may be legitimate, like a smart TV or doorbell.
Private by design
No account. Scan results stay on your phone and are never uploaded. It only scans the Wi-Fi network you're connected to, and never logs in to devices or opens their video.
